The Register of Common Land for East Sussex is held by East Sussex County Council. 

Crowborough Common is registered as unit number CL19.

In 1906, the Manorial Rights were purchased by Crowborough Beacon Golf Club from Earl De La Warr with the public continuing to have rights to air and exercise over the whole of the Common.

In 1936, the golf club defined 'limitations' to the public's access rights under Section 193 of the Law of Property Act, 1925.  Copies of this Order of Limitations are required to be permanently displayed at three designated sites on the common.
