The Canadian Connection
Mr Len Wickham has walked Crowborough Common his whole life. Here he is, as a boy, with Canadian soldiers on the fifth fairway (front right).
During the Second World War, a Canadian army camp close to Crowborough Common was hit by a flying bomb. On the east side of the fourth fairway in light woodland is a memorial (above) dedicated to the nine Canadian soldiers from the Lincoln and Welland Regiment, who died. The 65th Anniversary was on July 5th, 2009.
